Building a good user interface requires understanding what the user wants to see, how the user wants to interact, what kind of data is being displayed, using the right technology and a lot more things. Vulcan UX takes the guesswork out of building a UI by letting the user ask a question in plain text, getting all the different data that answers the question, identifying the most intuitive way to display the answers and building the app on the fly. The platform also learns how the apps are being used and tweaking which apps show up, thereby letting the users choose the right user interface just by using it.

Core Services use Artificial Intelligence and National Language Processing to do the heavy lifting across the platform. These services parse and filter through the data, identifying patterns and trends that inform the answers that address enterprise challenges.
At the root of the platform lies the Foundational Services. These are the technical components that support configurations and programming and create the underlying framework of the App Orchid platform.
Apps are the de-facto way of presenting information to the user in the App Orchid platform. Apps are purpose-built and provide specific functionality for the subject. This makes it easy to understand and use with no training. Apps are built quickly using the Vulcan UX app framework. The infrastructure allows for the apps to be built manually for a specific functionality or automatically based on the data returned by the platform for the subject in question.
The application is device agnostic. The user would be able to use the platform with either a personal computer or tablet or phone. The apps would automatically adapt themselves to the device used automatically.
Whenever enterprises need new dashboard or analytics they have to ask the subject matter experts and programmers to build the functionality. If any changes are needed, then the process repeats itself. Need for information in enterprises is exploding with the addition of new data. The old model of building an application every time cannot keep up anymore.
The App Orchid platform provides a way for enterprises to teach the system about the data once. The platform learns everything it needs to know about the data and the functionality using the data source and domain ontology. After this, the users can ask any question about the subject and the platform will answer with apps and learn from the user’s feedback on what is important and what’s not. This eliminates the need to make manual changes to the applications.
When a new application is introduced, training is a major undertaking. If this is not done properly, adoption among the enterprise is limited. The App Orchid interface is displayed as a text box, similar to any search engine. The results are displayed via dynamic apps which are intuitive and easy to use with no training, like any app in a smartphone. This makes the application quick to use and increases adoption.
One of the key features of the platform is that the users can ask different questions and the app answers it on the fly. Since the requirements are not fixed, we cannot build specific apps for this purpose. The Cognitive App Builder understands the data returned by Cloud Seer and uses the MSO and the built-in ontology to build the apps automatically.
There are thousands of documents that are being created in an enterprise. Most times these documents serve a purpose and are then stored in the document repository and soon forgotten. If there is information in any of these documents that may provide some useful information, its lost unless someone knows that it exists and where to look.
The App Orchid platform can consume all these documents, parse through the content and semantically index them in Cloud Seer. If a section in a document is pertinent to a question asked by the user, the platform would automatically bring this up and make the document accessible. This helps in not losing any knowledge that has been gained over time.
Every app in the application can take a feedback in the form of annotations. The user can provide a feedback using a simple thumb up or thumb down and add more detailed notes. The platform learns from this feedback and prioritizes and improves the apps over time. This also removes the need to keep changing the application as user preferences or needs change.
When the number of users using the application increases, scaling the system is as easy as adding more machines. The platform takes care of syncing all the servers and running the application in parallel in the additional machines.
