With the next evolution of Easy Answers™, we’re excited to introduce a unified experience that gives you the best of both worlds: the structure of Dashboard Mode and the flexibility of our new Conversational Analytics Agent.
One Platform, Two Modes of Discovery
Data isn't one-size-fits-all. Sometimes you need a reliable, monitoring view (a dashboard), and other times you need a deep-dive investigation (a conversation). Now, you don't have to choose.
1. Dashboard Mode: Build at the Speed of Thought

In Dashboard Mode, the focus is on permanence and structure. You can ask natural language questions—like "What is our maintenance spend by region?"—and instantly pin the resulting visualizations to a board. It’s the fastest way to build a monitoring deck, allowing you to go from zero to a fully populated dashboard in minutes, not months.
2. Conversational Analytics Mode: The Agent Experience

This is where the magic happens. Sometimes, a chart raises more questions than it answers. In Conversational Analytics Mode, you aren't just querying a database; you are collaborating with an AI Agent that understands your business.
This mode turns data analysis into a continuous dialogue. You can explore hypotheses, drill down into anomalies, and uncover root causes without ever leaving the chat interface.
How It Works: A Contextual Conversation With Your Data
The power of the Conversational Analytics Agent lies in its ability to maintain context. Unlike standard search bars that treat every query as a blank slate, our Agent remembers the "thread" of your analysis.
The workflow:

- Ask a question: Start simple.
- User: "Show me the total work orders for last month."
- Agent: Can return a couple of lines, a table, an app or an insight – based on the complexity of the question. You can easily change visualization with a few clicks.
- User: "Show me the total work orders for last month."
- Follow up naturally: You don't need to restate the subject. The Agent knows what you are talking about. It can even suggest follow up questions or ask questions to clarify what the user means. Don’t like the answer? You can give it feedback.
- User: "Filter that for Texas only."
- Agent: Automatically applies the location filter to the previous data set.
- Branch away to investigate answers

- Flip the question back to Analytics/Dashboard Mode at any time and enjoy the full, auto-generated analytics experience.
- User: "Why is the cost so high there?"
- Agent: Triggers a Root Cause Analysis, identifying contributing factors (e.g., specific asset failures or weather events) and presenting them as insights, not just raw numbers.
Better Control for Better Answers
When the App Orchid Platform processes a question, it can use one of three different LLM Modes. These modes determine the levels of certainty/accuracy the answers will have based on how the generative AI Large Language Model is being instructed to do certain operations:
- Controlled interprets only what is known to and can be validated by the ontology, flags unknown words or phrases.
- Balanced allows limited flexibility and mild inference while staying grounded.
- Freeform most open to broader reasoning and creative interpretation.
Every Easy Answers solution has a default LLM Mode selected at the solution level, and end-users cannot change the selected mode. However, power users with permissions to change these modes will see options to do so once a question has been answered (using the initial default mode).
